love old garden books, but if I could only have one, by far, this is the one! It’s called the “Western Garden Book” but the west includes Colorado and Lake Tahoe, snowy areas and deserts, coastal and inland so limiting this book to the West is so unfair to everyone else in the USA! Stillmeadow Friends is a good site for information about Gladys Taber and her books. Stillmeadow and Sugarbridge Gladys Taber has been one of my favorite authors for a few years now.

Soon after finding her books, I discovered Barbara Webster's Creatures and Contentments-Ruminations of Living in the Country, and fell in love with her, too. A good book is lovely., lovely in the soft pale blue dusk of a June day and lovely, lovely when the sleet flails at the window panes.

Just finished reading Stillmeadow & Sugarbridge. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will look into more writings by these two authors. Highly recommend. Reply Delete. Replies. Reply. Add comment.

For me, to read about a home, a place, a community and then have the opportunity to actually visit the same in person is a fabulous experience. This particular book, Stillmeadow and Sugarbridge written with Barbara Webster, stays on my nightstand. I read and re-read the book all year long, reading a bit near daily, and I have for years.

Her lyric prose and insight to people are timeless. I wish I could have known her.5/5. +The Book of Stillmeadow The Book of Stillmeadow takes readers to a time when life was difficult but no less sweet. It was a time when neighbors lived together and enjoyed a sense of community.

Gladys uses this book to bring that seemingly alien setting with its friendly people and hopeful environment to life.I used to read Butternut Wisdom in the Family Circle when I was a kid growing up in the 60s. Her articles made me think she was writing just to me.

I have read and reread her books for as long as I can remember. She had one titled Stillmeadow to Sugarbridge, which is a collection of letters between two friends.

I like that one too.Click to read more about Stillmeadow and Sugarbridge by Gladys Taber. LibraryThing is a cataloging and social networking site for booklovers/5(2).
