Out of 5 stars Great stuff excellent book on the subject on the Chinese warlord era of the s. Reviewed in Canada on Septem Verified Purchase. As said by the title. Great resource and info on teh Chinese warlord armies of the s. However some very important events in this era are not mentioned such as teh Central Plains 4/4(15).

The warlord period of 20th Century Chinese history is fascinating, though it must have been rather horrible to live through, the overthrow of the last Chinese Empire and the establishment of the Republic, which was unable to maintain order or any sense of /5.

The warlords of twentieth-century China have received little scholarly attention. Doubtless the chief reason is simply that the aggregation of unexplored Chinese historical problems is vast, whereas the assault force of scholars is very small; warlords are but one.

His first Osprey book was the ground-breaking MAA Chinese Civil War Armies ; he has since published a three-part sequence 5/5(2). The Art of War is an ancient Chinese military treatise dating from the Late Spring and Autumn Period (roughly 5th century BC).

The work, which is attributed to the ancient Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu ("Master Sun", also spelled Sunzi), is composed of 13 chapters. Each one is devoted to an aspect of warfare and how it applies to military strategy and : (trad.) Sun Tzu.

Warlord and TDK feel so similar but unlike Warlord, TDK's MC actually has his own agenda and isn't just some infatuated bodyguard. TDK also has better world building. Take this review with a grain of salt though, since there's only translated chapters and the story might get godlike later when the MC gets more powerful and the mysteries.
